So many believers end up going to church instead of being the church. Are you looking for a presence based community where the focus of our gathering is on loving God and loving others. According Rev. 5:10 Jesus purchased us and made us a “a kingdom of priests.” As priests of the new covenant our occupation is to minister to the Lord in worship and minister sacrificially to one another. This is how we are present to God and present to one another at the Dwelling Place. To us, Biblical community looks like the early church.
Act 2:42,44,46-47 (NIV) They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…All the believers were together and had everything in common….Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Birthed out of a desire for consistently meeting, Dwelling Place is not just a Sunday Morning Service! It’s a community of people who gather in homes, in the prayer room, in one to one mentoring and also gather to worship God and seek His face. It’s a community of people where we can minister to one another and experience wholeness. As we seek the Lord and minister to one another we experience healing emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Dwelling Place is a community where you can grow in your walk with God and be transformed the creation that God originally intended for us to be.
In a practical sense, what does our presence based community look like? In Jon Quesenberry’s book, “Presence Based Community,” there is a circle diagram that includes the following: In the book you are invited to dive deeply into the new covenant meaning of community. You will see that each of these aspects is essential to that process. We love fostering this kind of community here at Dwelling Place and having a community in Charlottesville that is Christ centered.
