It is the heart of God to see compassion, justice, and generosity throughout the ends of the earth (along with the gospel message). For generations we have seen racism in Charlottesville be extremely prevalent in various ways. As a Christian community, we absolutely believe that it is through the work of the Holy Spirit in us that we will see racial reconciliation in our land.
We are called to reach out in compassionate service to the poor, disenfranchised, and oppressed in our community. We are called to actively work towards justice in our community for the same. We are called to give generously to those in need. In Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV) it says,
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…”
As a Biblically based community, we feel called to not only press into intimacy with Jesus, but to actively seek out ways to serve each other and our community here in Charlottesville. Civil righteousness begins with us standing firm in our relationship with Jesus and following His greatest commandment: to love our neighbor as ourselves. Join us at Dwelling Place as we continue to build a strong community of Christ followers that are living out the gospel in this way.
